Somnath temple, one of the 12 jyotirlings that is thronged by devotees throughout the year, will get better facilities and more amenities.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited the temple on Tuesday, suggested an upgradation with water, greenery and other facilities, the Central government has already approved three projects for the temple.
The 116th meeting held in the presence of trustees including Modi, Amit Shah, LK Advani and others, also discussed building a hi-tech virtual reality museum and a walk-way along the sea shore near the temple.
“Under the central government's 'National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme, we intend to build a facilitation centre for the large number of tourists who come here from across the country, “said Laheri. Laheri also said that the trustees deliberated upon reviving the Chandrabhaga Shaktipeeth.
